Monkeying Around ~ December 14, 2010

It's quite chilly down here in St. Louis. I am sure most of you are laughing at me right now, thinking "well, it's darn cold up here!" Hee hee. Well us Southerners are not used to this cold, this early. Did you know they close schools around here for an inch of snow?Mostly to keep the kids safe from the crazy drivers down here! Anyway, I digress. You came here to see pictures of the boys, not listen to me ramble. :)

We picked up the monkey hats a few months ago, mommy couldn't pass them up in the store. Ryan hates wearing it, as soon as we are in the van, the hat comes off and is thrown on the floor. We'll see if he keeps it on when we get to play out in the snow, when it warms up a little that is!

And this is what happens when I try and get a picture of the two of them now that they are completely mobile. My camera is not fast enough for the two of them!

Have a wonderful day! Love from the Smith family!

Matthew's first words? ~ October 17, 2010

Sorry, yet again I haven't made time to post any new pictures or videos of the boys. We have been busy remodeling our living room, and with life in general. I have to admit, I have been a little worried about the boys because they will be 18 months soon, and we were not hearing any specific words from them. They both will babble, Matthew more than Ryan, and can say "dada" and "mama," but neither of them would say it when they saw us. I picked up a few word books, since the boys love to read, and surprise, surprise... Matthew started repeating some words, in his own little way. Here are a few videos of Matthew:

Ryan still does not talk much... he may say "tickle" when he babbles, but still nothing that I can distinguish. We will see at his next ped check up if we will need to see a specialist to help Ryan out.

City Park ~ August 15, 2010

I hope you are keeping cool on these HOT days. The boys found the best way to stay cool, was to play in the splah fountains at City Park in downtown St. Louis. We had visited the park once before, when the boys were first learning how to walk, but they really had fun today when they were set loose to run about. Matthew took to the fountains pretty fast, while Ryan still prefered to keep his distance for a while.

After getting soaked in the fountains the boys decided to check out the rest of the park. They had a lot of fun meeting other little friends, and running away from mom and dad.

When it came time to leave, both boys were extremely upset that we had to go... I think they would have been happy to give up their lunch and nap to stay at the park all day. Unfortunately mommy and daddy won that battle.

The Cheerio Dance ~ July 23, 2010

I don't know what is going through Matthew's head while he is eating his cheerios, but I thought this was so cute. He doesn't do it all the time, just a few times. Luckily I caught it on video. I never knew these tasted so good!

Cheerio dance

I am including some older pictures of the boys, since they are related. These are from January, it's funny to see how different they look, especially Matthew! He's lost a lot of his chubby cheeks!

We All Scream for Ice Cream ~ July 7, 2010

So tonight we decided to go out for ice cream. It has been hot an humid down here, and a Dairy Cream dipped cone sounded wonderful. The cone ended up being shared between the entire family, Matthew couldn't get enough... Ryan... wasn't interested.

Keeping Daddy Busy ~ June 24, 2010

We officially have two walkers. Yay! And with that comes more things the boys can get into, and they know this too. We are keeping ourselves busy here, chasing after our twosome. They really like to climb onto things right now, and mommy and daddy are great ladders to get onto the coffee table and couch, both of which are off-limits when mommy is home by herself with them. But when we are both around to keep a close eye on them, we let them get away with more.

Both boys finally have all four of their 15 month molars completely in, thankfully! We are back to sleeping good during the night, and one decent nap during the day.

We have tried out the inflatable pool we got for the boys' birthday already, it's been so hot down lately. Matthew loves the water, after he gets over the initial shock of the cold. Ryan doesn't like it at all. I tried to bring them to the local pool once during the day, by myself... never again. I had one boy who didn't want to get out, and one boy that didn't want to get in... :)

I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day. Jason was sent up to our attic to evict a nest of birds that had built between the attic floor and our bedroom ceiling. That was not fun on a 95 degree day! :)

Here is a movie of the boys:

And some pictures from the last month.
