Here is also a video that I just found of the boys getting to know each other. I love how crazy Ryan gets when he can't reach his hand to suck... and Matthew's face is priceless.

Story time ~ August 21, 2009
The boys are getting so big and starting to grab on to toys and fingers. Ryan has a very strong grip (he likes to cut off circulation to your fingers while you are trying to feed him) and enjoys tasting whatever he has in his hand. Matthew is just content to mostly just look at it, for now... here are pictures of the boys with their soft covered books. I had run out of things to play with them one day and gave Matthew the book. I like how Matthew is using his feet to grab on to the book. He's getting big into grabbing his feet... I guess they will be in his mouth next!

Meeting Each Other ~ August 16, 2009
Grandpa and grandma Smith came down this past Saturday to spend the day with the boys and us, and to help rearrange our living room. We moved the second crib downstairs to avoid having the boys wake each other up in the single crib. Our living room is a little more cozy now, but everything fits. The dog will just have to watch where she is going when she chases her laser. While grandpa and grandma were down, we had the boys spend some time meeting each other.
Both boys are becoming more active and are developing their own personalities. Matthew has always been my laid back boy, easy to smile and pretty content with everything. Ryan is more demanding, but still a very sweet and happy baby. I am guessing he will be the first to walk and Matthew will be the first to talk... I can also see Ryan being the leader of the two when they get older, and Matthew will be the one to come up with some story to get them both out of trouble. They definitely are a joy to watch grow and change everyday.

Picture time ~ August 13, 2009
We just received our two month professional pictures in the mail today. They were so good that we had to purchase the CD and copyrights to the pictures. Here's one of the two of them together, Ryan looks like he is superman.

Three months old ~ August 11, 2009
Sorry I haven't had a chance to post in a while. I have been trying to sleep a little bit more. Now that the boys are in the crib for most of the night, they still sleep about 4-5 hours, but it is a more restful, QUIET sleep. So I have been able to catch a few more hours of sleep while they are out.
The boys are officially three months and one week old now. They are over 13 pounds, Matthew has doubled his birth weight already and Ryan is close to doing the same. They both are starting to talk and smile more, and interact with toys a bit. They also are starting to notice each other and smile at each other. I can't wait until they start to take more interest in each other, rather than the TV!
I will try and post some pictures in the morning, but I just got the boys back down after eating, and I am going to try and squeeze in another 2 or 3 hours of sleep. Night!

Our First Trip to the Zoo ~ August 4, 2009
It was a beautiful weekend here in St. Louis. The temperatures were in the mid-80s with low humidity, which is rare for summer down here. So Jason and I decided to take advantage of the weather and take the boys to the zoo. Next year the zoo is celebrating their 100 year anniversary, and they are asking for your most memorable zoo pictures, and we thought it would be fun to get pictures of the boys at the zoo and go back next year to find them on their display wall.

We didn't have time to see much of the zoo, since getting the boys fed, ready, and getting everyone out the door takes a while... but maybe next time we can pack for a longer visit. Not that the boys realized what they were missing anyway! We did get to see one of the "baby" elephants... not sure which one this is, and it's probably 2 years old by now!

Our First Cap ~ July 31, 2009
Mommy went out to lunch with a girlfriend and her daughter yesterday, and afterwards we got to go shopping for a little bit. Mommy found cute Cardinals hats for us, what do you think?

Security Blanket ~ July 30, 2009
We have started to play more during the day, I am trying to get them to stay awake more during the day so hopefully they will sleep longer at night. But I don't force the boys to stay awake, if they seem tired and cranky, I will let them fall asleep if they want. So far it hasn't made much of a difference at night, but maybe someday...
So a few days after the boys started to play with their hands more, I dug out the toys. I am a little anxious to get them playing on their own I guess. :) Most of the toys are interesting to them, but they can't grab them yet. I did however realize that the security blankets were a little easier for them to handle. It may be wishful thinking, but the boys seem to grab them, and Ryan even brings it to his mouth to chew on. Of course I am not too far away with the camera, so I caught a few pictures of them playing with their doggie blankets.

The picture of Matthew with his blanket is one of my favorites so far. He looks so cute hugging his blankie! Here's a video of him playing with it. It's not much so far, but I sure am excited that he is grabbing things and seems to pay attention to them!
